Let's Get Together, Yeah Yeah Yeah

It's true. What began with a barbecue, a business card, and blushing then blossomed into something real.

When Chad and Amanda met, Chad asked her a question that neither of them forgot: "What is your favorite literary element?" Amanda was shocked, but responded: "Internal rhyme." After such repartee, who would have suspected that either could go a year -- or a minute -- without the other? Alas, they did. What a year!

After that year, when the Bensons again felt the urge to eat meat on the barbecue, Chad and Amanda met once more. Chad reminded Amanda of her love for internal rhyme. After a little finagling, Chad handed Amanda his business card and asked her to call him if she was at all interested. We all know that it was the internal rhyme that caught her fancy ....

Their first date, they climbed Mount Audubon and played Scrabble with her family. After that, it was just a matter of working their schedules into something feasible. Since then, Chad and Amanda weathered law school, public schools, pneumonia, the Student Trial Law Association, Trial Team, and Metro Denver Promotion of Letters together. They survived the holidays -- wasn't that in itself enough?

Spring Break came around and they compromised: to Breckenridge they rode. They spent Easter at a tiny yellow church with icicles all around it. That evening, Chad ordered a dinner for the two of them and produced a wrapped book for Amanda: _Gift from the Sea_. It was important to him, and he hoped that it would be important to her in their life together. When he asked Amanda to marry him, she replied, "Of course." Chad then  produced two pieces of string, orange and blue -- their favorite colors, not the Broncos' colors -- tied together within the book. Amanda had already told him that she wasn't concerned with engagement rings-- "Just tie a piece of string around my finger." So he did.

With that, the two spent the rest of their time in Breckenridge making plans for the rest of their life. The string ring eventually became gross, but in the meantime they had found a local jeweler who made a perfect ring for both of them. Blah, blah, blah.

The important part: Chad and Amanda are getting married. And they want you to be there. Check this site for information and updates so that you, too, are prepared for their life together. :)

It does seem crazy to go a whole year after such an intriguing question & answer session. You two are quite the couple now though - what a GREAT beginning!
